Why sleep is important! - World Sleep Day

We didn’t even know this was a thing but today is apparently World Sleep Day! It's a day to help celebrate the importance of good and healthy sleep which we are very happy to celebrate.

As we are all about wellbeing, being kind and helping people in need. We’ve put together a few reasons on why catching ZZZ’s is important. Instead of spending hours on our phone at night and regretting it the next morning, why not switch that last hour with the sleep you need?

Here are 4 reasons why you should give your body the energy and rest it needs.

1) When we run low on sleep we tend to struggle retaining information and minor details because sleep plays a big role in both learning and memory. If you’re not getting enough sleep, it will be harder to focus and take in new information.

2) We all know what a grumpy and tired person can be like… lack of sleep may make it difficult controlling emotions and behaviour. In fact a study showed that when you have insomnia, you’re more likely to develop depression and anxiety. So, boost your mood by recharging and reseting.

3) Healthy sleep = healthy heart.

4) This is very relevant to what’s going on in the world right now but sleep can help with germ fighting. To help get rid of your illnesses and to allow your immune system to destroy the bacteria and viruses in your body you need rest. Because good sleep hygiene will help boost your immunity.

So with that being said, getting good quality sleep really plays a vital role in protecting your mental health, physical health and quality of life.
