Leiho x Home-Start: Donating Care Packages & Offering Paid Employment to Low-Income and Vulnerable Families

Leiho x Home-Start: Donating Care Packages & Offering Paid Employment to Low-Income and Vulnerable Families

This October, ahead of winter settling in and the festive season close calling, we are partnering with the incredible charity Home-Start Camden & Islington. We are teaming up to spread love, warmth, care and employment opportunities within their community. Together we are creating care packages of essentials for some of the vulnerable children and parents they support and also extending a helping hand to two deserving mothers.

Home-Start is a charity that has been making profound impact on the lives of vulnerable children and families for many years. Their mission is to provide vital support and guidance to parents, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. They offer emotional and practical support, helping families build the resilience they need to face life’s challenges. We are so honoured to be partnering with them to do our little bit to help on their journey to making a difference in the lives of many individuals. We are working with them this year in 2 ways:

FIRST UP - CARE PACKAGES FILLED WITH LOVE

On Tuesday 10th October, we hosted a care package making event at the City Launch Lab - a co-working and incubator space provided by the City University of London. We were joined by their community of founders who wanted to do their little bit to help.

The care packages were for the children and families under Home-Start Islington and Camden’s care and were designed to bring smiles and warmth to the faces of those who need it most in the festive season!

We made a total of 80 care packages split into three categories - for mothers, fathers and children. The children’s packages were also split into 3 age groups - newborns, 4-5 and 6-7 years old. We carefully curated the care packages to include essential items and a touch of festive magic. From warm baby blankets and essential toiletries to wooden toys for children, chocolate treats and household items, these packages will be a source of comfort and joy to some of Home-Start’s families.

The adult packages included things like luxury toiletry items, socks, snacks, tea bags and more! Some of the products were kindly donated by  Nivea, Pure Anada, John Lewis, and Hunter & Co.

Alongside making the care packages, we enjoyed delicious sponsored drinks from Sassy Cidre and Karma Drinks to hydrate us whilst we got to packaging! We also heard from the wonderful Naomi Smith, director of Home-Start Camden & Islington, who told us all about the wonderful work they’re doing and how everyone can help in their mission going forward! What an inspiring evening bringing together our community, Launch Lab’s founders and Home-Start!

SECONDLY - EMPOWERING MOTHERS THROUGH EMPLOYMENT

We are proud to announce our Christmas Crackers Employment Project, a partnership with Home-Start this year to employ two incredible mothers who will be responsible for crafting our eco-friendly Christmas sock crackers. This not only helps families in need, but also creates employment opportunities for low-income mothers within the Home-Start Islington & Camden community.

These beautifully crafted Christmas crackers, made with love and care, will not only add a special touch to Christmas celebrations, but also offer the chance for these mothers to earn a meaningful income during challenging times. The ladies will be making the Christmas sock cracker for the next few weeks and we are so excited to be working with them!

Stay tuned to hear more on their journey leading up to Christmas!

Our crackers also make great meaningful gifts for friends, families and colleagues. For any large order enquiries, please do reach out to us at dogood@leiho.co.uk and we'll see what we can do for you!
