Community Workshop: Postnatal Recovery Support for Mothers

Community Workshop: Postnatal Recovery Support for Mothers

Last week we ran our first every Postnatal and Pelvic Health Workshop for new mothers supported by Homestart Charity in Camden & Islington. We co-hosted this with Body Own, a new postnatal recovery platform helping women understand what's happening in their bodies after birth.

The session was led by Katherine Woolford, Pelvic Health Physiotherapist at the NHS who brought worksheets, quizzes and a lot of knowledge and practical advice. Covering everything from pelvic exercises to what every new mother should know about her body postpartum. Given that Homestart Charity supports families including mothers with young children, the topic couldn't have been more fitting.

A sign of a genuinely engaged room is when the session ends with lots of questions and engagement.

An attendee shared that she wished she'd had access to this kind of expert guidance after the birth of her first child a few years ago. She was so grateful for the opportunity and felt a little more confident with her recovery.

Rita Parry, the Content Strategy Lead at Body Own said:

Being in a room with mums, all navigating similar stages, open to learning, sharing, and supporting each other.

Hearing how valuable the session felt for them and how much this kind of guidance is needed, was a real reminder of why this matters.

You can find some of our Leiho socks in a Body Own care box. It’s partnerships like these that directly fund opportunities like this workshop. Every pair sold helps us create space for communities to access knowledge, support, and each other.
