How it Works

At Leiho, we believe that no matter who you are or what your background is, you should have access to the simplest essentials in life. There are so many basic items that vulnerable communities are living without such as socks, water, sanitary care and the list goes on. Our goal is to offer different ways you can give back and lend a hand to those in need.

WHY SOCKS?

You may be wondering if a pair of socks can really make a difference. For starters, we've seen many people walk around the streets in their bare foot because someone has stolen their shoes whilst they were sleeping or their socks have become dirty and destroyed. When it's cold, their feet need to be protected and during the summer when it's raining, their socks get sweaty or wet!

An average person also owns roughly 13 pairs of socks that can be frequently washed and reused but someone experiencing homelessness may barely even have a clean pair of socks to get them through the week which is why socks are always highly requested at homeless shelters and outreach services.

WHAT SOCKS DO WE GIVE?

Depending on the time of year, we donate high quality socks that are suitable and durable for their living conditions during the summer and winter respectively.

HOW IT WORKS?

HOW ELSE DO WE HELP CHARITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS?

We build good relationships with a lot of our partners to ensure that we are able to use our brand to support them as much as we can. We do this by volunteering with our partners, running campaigns and tailoring the giving side of our business so that we are effectively providing these organisations with the essentials that they really need. We also try to raise as much awareness as possible by promoting these brands to our community.

HOW OFTEN DO WE DONATE BASIC ESSENTIALS AND HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT TO GIVE?

Depending on the season, we choose what to give based on the essentials that are low in supply but high in demand. During the year, we aim to donate at least twice a month and sometimes even more but for the months leading up to Christmas we typically donate warm essentials to over 4-5 different organisations every month and during the summer when it’s heatwave season we aim to distribute as much water and essentials as we can to at least 4-5 different organisations every month.

What about the environment?

As a brand we know we need to be responsible about our environmental footprint. We are always very conscious about the impact we are making and work hard to ensure we are curating products that are sustainably sourced and ethically made. We make sure we work with ethical suppliers that align with our values and that all of our packaging is plastic free (this includes using cardboard boxes, toxic-free biodegradable stickers, recyclable flyers and Kraft header cards). There are two things we always consider when making decisions and that is our sustainable initiatives as well as our social impact.
